Where the Republic is going financially, politically, and morally is a tangled web. With the Washington, D.C. politicos moving from one illusion to another, Americans are finally waking up to the reality that the people are going to have to untangle the mess. The individuals elected to represent the best interests of the people and uphold the Constitution have abdicated their responsibility and are drowning in a sea of lies. The illusion of prosperity, delivered with decades of propaganda, are unraveling to harsh realities for most of the nation.
To put things in perspective, let’s look at where this country was in 1979, when Jimmy Carter was President. We were just 8 years removed from going off the gold standard. When Americans learned, that year, that the deficit would be a staggering 59 billion, there was shock and dismay. Such a number was unfathomable. Someone should have brought out a crystal ball and dialed up 2011. Instead, Reagan drove the country deeper in debt, a Presidential pattern.
Today, yearly deficits are in the Trillions, with a capital T, and the politicos accept it as a way of life, paying lip service to what will be cut from budgets 5-10 years down the road. Do they think we are all Zombies? The financial contagion that is spreading across the world is continuing. Make no mistake. There is nothing, in reality, that has changed with the financial condition of this country. Absolutely nothing, except that it gets worse by the day. The illusion, orchestrated by the treacherous stewards of your tax dollars, is still on the Magical Mystery Tour.
The city of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania announced Wednesday, they are filing for bankruptcy. This is the third municipality to file for bankruptcy this year. Some believe municipalities cannot file for bankruptcy. Regardless, other bad stewards of American’s tax dollars are going to try to get out of paying for stuff, they couldn’t afford in the first place. The major dilemma is that there are hundreds, if not thousands of municipalities and States (California and Illinois come to mind) that are broke and have debts that run in the billions. The contagion runs as deep as the illusion on which it was built.
Now that the country is on financial fire, you have the politicos and banksters either pointing fingers of blame or running for the exits. So much for the rhetorical bravado, when the cow piles hit the fan. In the midst of all of this, you have the Middle East in social and political turmoil, which is escalating to saber-rattling on the World War scale. And at home, the Obama administration makes the Bush administration look like its ugly twin, with both racing to dismantle citizen’s rights, while covering up their own misdeeds. Does this nation have any leaders, except on the battlefield?
American blood continues to be spilled on foreign soil for reasons, most Americans cannot explain. What’s worse, is that the majority of American people have succumbed to the idea that fighting these wars and continuing to spill blood, is a way of life. That’s convenient when most everyone is far removed from the fighting, sipping on Merlot, and a President that’s merely a figurehead for pinning medals on the honorable, while in between rounds of golf.
When the illusion is finally dismantled, if the power elite haven’t short circuited the Republic to its death, then the same people who have fought for generations to build something greater than themselves – will prevail.
